Indoor air and water microbial diversity, with emphasis on the human/microbe interface.
We are supported by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation to examine the microbial diversity that humans encounter in their everyday activities. Through 16S rDNA sequencing methods and microscopy, I am studying the microbial community in indoor air, water and surfaces in homes, work, and public settings. My previous research is in aquatic microbial ecology, including nitrogen cycling in groundwater and sulfur and carbon cycling in coastal and hypersaline ecosystems.
