                   <content type="html">&lt;p class="content"&gt;The Chinese Students and Scholars Association at the University of Colorado at Boulder will raise funds for earthquake relief efforts at various locations around the campus and the city from May 15 through May 18.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;quot;The sooner we can act, the less they will suffer,&amp;quot; said association President Jing Yin, a doctoral candidate in the CU-Boulder physics department. All of the money collected will be donated to the Red Cross Society of China to help with relief efforts for those affected by this week's deadly quake in China's Sichuan Province.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The Chinese student group will accept donations at tables set up at the following times and locations:&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Thursday and Friday, May 15 and 16, from noon to 1 p.m.:&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;o Near Broadway and Euclid Avenue outside the University Memorial Center&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;o Near Colorado Avenue and Regent Drive outside the Engineering Center&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;o Near Broadway and College Avenue outside the Colorado Bookstore on University Hill&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Saturday and Sunday, May 17 and 18, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.:&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;o At the 29th Street Mall outside Borders Bookstore&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;o Outside King Soopers near Broadway and Table Mesa Drive&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Saturday and Sunday, May 17 and 18, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.:&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;o On the Pearl Street Mall near Broadway and Pearl Street&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Cash or checks will be accepted. Checks should be made payable to the Chinese Students and Scholars Association.                    <content type="html">&lt;p&gt;From CU News Center&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Howard Hughes Medical Institute President and University of Colorado at Boulder Distinguished Professor Tom Cech announced today that he will step down as the top HHMI administrator and return to CU in spring 2009 to resume his research and teaching.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Cech, who shared the 1989 Nobel Prize in chemistry for his discovery that RNA in living cells is not only a molecule of heredity but also can function as a catalyst, has been president of HHMI since January 2000 and a faculty member at CU-Boulder since 1978.                    <summary type="html">Three University of Colorado at Boulder faculty members have been named distinguished professors, the highest honor bestowed by CU on its teaching faculty.

The prestigious designation was awarded to Professor Kristi Anseth, of the chemical and biological engineering department; Professor Margaret Murnane, of the physics and electrical and computer engineering departments and JILA; and Professor Norman Pace, of the molecular, cellular and developmental biology department, during the Jan. 24 meeting of the CU Board of Regents.

Anseth, Murnane and Pace join 34 other CU-Boulder faculty members who have been named distinguished professors since the Board of Regents established the designation in 1977.

“Professors Anseth, Murnane and Pace represent the best of our CU-Boulder faculty,” said CU-Boulder Provost Phil DiStefano. “They have distinguished themselves through their scholarship and teaching and join a prestigious group of colleagues.”
