MCDB Launches New Version of Website
After months of development MCDB is pleased to announce the release of its "new and improved" departmental web site. The site features a cleaner and more attractive look and feel while extending and enhancing the interactive features of the old site. There are many useful new features incorporated throughout. Besides improved performance easier navigation, there are numerous new features and enhancements of existing features throughout. The list below highlights some of the more exciting and unusual ones.
Enhanced Room scheduling software
With the updated Booking Center you can now display all rooms on a single calendar and see those that are available at any given time. The improved interface is faster and more efficient. You will notice significant speedups in page rendering, browsing and signups. Click the link below to see the booking pages.

User modified profiles
The site is based on the Plone Content Management System that alls individuals to login and securely edit their own research profiles (i.e. contact information, professional and journal article pubilication information). After login authorization, you can keep your own information up to date without IT assistance, and make content changes as you see fit. Changes are as simple as login and typing or searching for publications. MCDBIT has produced a screencast video describing step-by-step instructions.

MCDB Slideshows
Looking for a place to show your interesting lab photos to colleagues? Visit MCDB Slideshows to see examples of pictures that have already been uploaded. Authorized users can have a space created where you can upload your own research or department photos for easy web viewing. For more information, please contact : mcdbhelp.
Publications
The new MCDB wesite has a suite of tools for displaying and catergorizing your publications for sharing. They can made viewable as lists for outside web surfers or can be used for your own filing and access. These publication database tools can make it possible to offer external visitors views of the collated publications of the entire department with a single click by selecting the "Current Publications" link on the homepage. You can also allow them to can carry out filtered searches for all faculty and students. Try it: Search publications or Current publications.

Facilitating Undergraduate Research
To help sort out undergrad research solicitations, the new site provides an easy path to apply for a spot. A link on each faculty web page directs motivated undergraduate students who view the profile to submit a request for a research slot in labs of interest. The web application produces a form that includes basic pertinent information including GPA/courses, experience and motivation.
