Congratulations to MCDB Distinguished Professor Leslie Leinwand, who has received an Honorable Mention as a 2020 CU Boulder Outstanding Undergraduate Mentor. Professor Leinwand, who is also a Beckman Scholars Program Mentor, was nominated by MCDB student Molly Madden, who is a Beckman Scholar. Molly wrote, in part, in her nomination letter:
When I enter the classroom, I have a framework to place what I’ve learned because of Dr. Leslie Leinwand’s lab.
I’ve been exposed to all levels of research: mouse work, cell culture, biophysical assays, and working on new scientific breakthroughs. I find myself becoming more and more comfortable talking about my research to people, even if they happen to be more qualified than I am. As I prepare to graduate, Dr. Leinwand is helping me navigate my path forward.
