Committee on Graduate Student Affairs (COGSA)
COGSA consists of four to five faculty members, the Graduate Secretary, and two graduate students. The responsibilities of COGSA are to choose the members of the incoming graduate class from the pool of applicants, to propose changes to the graduate curriculum, lab rotations, and doctoral degree requirements to the faculty, and generally to oversee the graduate program. The student members have voting rights equal to the other members of COGSA, except on: 1) decisions that pertain only to specific graduate students; 2) decisions regarding graduate student salaries; and 3) the awarding of stipends.
