Useful software, mostly free.

Below you will find some basic info to help you get started.

 

Your first consideration should be the security of your computer.  Below are links to free software provided by the University of Colorado aimed at keeping our computing environment safe:

  • CU AntiVirus, Computer Associates' eTrust Antivirus customized for CU-Boulder.
  • VPN (Virtual Private Network), for secure access to resources here on campus from your home or while traveling.
  • Secure Shell, for logging onto, or transferring files to/from, a remote computer.

 

The University of Colorado makes the following software available to staff and faculty for free (contact us for details):

  • Microsoft Windows XP Professional
  • Microsoft Windows Vista Enterprise
  • Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007
  • Microsoft Office 2003
  • Microsoft Office 2004 & 2008 (Mac versions)
