The phylogeny workshop files are in three parts:
1) Instructions- open these and read the instructions before you deal with the programs.
2) The Programs (Mac or PC) - you can download this .zip and unarchive everything, OR just get the programs from their websites (see the instructions) For Phylo_win, I recommend going to the website. Again, read the instructions first (installation information is under "Setup" in the instruction files).
3) The Data Sets- download and open the zip file. You will probably want to put the data sets for part 2 (all of them EXCEPT 16Sunaligned.fst) in the same file with Phylo_win on your desktop.
If you have any problems, you may not be alone, so please contact Laura and let her know (laura.baumgartner@colorado.edu). If I see anything systemic I will email you and update here, so check back.
**Remember - the results of this workshop need to be turned in at Exam 1 for 20 points on your exam. PLEASE work on this ahead of time in case you have any software issues. Please do not spend too much time fighting software or other issues - email/come in for help.
