My research concentrates on the metabolic perturbations associated with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM). A reduced dependence on lipid oxidation for ATP synthesis in the diseased heart may have a negative impact on the amount or type of lipids accumulating in extracardiac tissues. Therefore, I am studying the aberrant lipid kinetics and lipid-intiated transcriptional events related to genetic heart disease. This will help us to understand the global effects of HCM and the possibility of crosstalk between lipolytic and lipogenic organs in the context of disease.
